Previsico, an insurtech company that provides advanced flood prediction and risk management solutions, has released Flood Intelligence 2.0, an updated version of its flood forecasting platform.

Flood Intelligence 2.0 addresses two long-standing challenges in flood forecasting. It replaces traditional deterministic forecasts with a probabilistic approach, allowing users to better understand both the likelihood and potential severity of flooding. The platform also provides hourly updates, enabling operators to respond swiftly to changing conditions using near-real-time data.
Sam Wilks, Previsico’s Head of Product, commented: “Flood Intelligence 2.0 sets a new benchmark in flood forecasting, with the shift from deterministic to probabilistic insights representing a major step forward.
“Instead of telling users whether flooding is expected or not, our platform now shows a more detailed view of the outcome, including the likelihood and severity of floods, with accurate, timely, and actionable intelligence to support live response efforts, from managing insured assets and infrastructure to operational planning. This is a major step forward for the resilience and effectiveness of the insurance industry and its customers.”
The platform update includes five significant improvements. Probabilistic forecasting now presents a range of potential flood scenarios with their likelihoods and severity, supporting more informed decision-making. Forecasts are updated hourly, rather than every three hours, offering closer to real-time monitoring of flood conditions.
The retrospective analysis now covers a full 24 hours instead of 12, giving users a more detailed view of how flood events develop and assisting with validation, assessment, and resource coordination. The platform interface has been updated for a smoother, more intuitive experience, while the enhanced API offers more detailed outputs, improved performance, and simpler integration with customer systems, streamlining operational workflows.
Flood Intelligence 2.0 will be made available to Previsico’s new and existing customers across the globe from early 2026.
