Continental Reinsurance Holdings, an African reinsurance group with a presence across more than 50 countries, has officially moved its Group Holding Company from Mauritius to the Republic of Botswana.
With a 40-year history in Nigeria, Continental Reinsurance has developed an extensive network delivering both treaty and facultative reinsurance solutions across life and non-life sectors. As it prepares for further expansion, Botswana has been selected as the base for its holding operations, owing to the country’s stable governance, forward-looking financial reforms, and dedication to sustained economic growth.
The Group Holding Company’s new operations will function separately from the Group’s existing Botswana subsidiary, which has been serving Gaborone for 11 years and continues to cater to an expanding client base. This subsidiary forms part of the Group’s network, which includes over 1,000 cedants and brokers across Africa.
Continental Reinsurance delivers comprehensive risk management solutions for insurers, blending regional expertise with local knowledge to enhance the development and stability of Africa’s insurance markets.
The relocation highlights Botswana’s rising appeal as a hub for multinational financial services and reinforces its reputation as a stable, well-governed economy. For Continental Reinsurance, this move represents the beginning of a new phase centred on growth, collaboration, and sustained investment in the region.
