Munich Re, a global provider of reinsurance, primary insurance and insurance-related risk solutions, has announced the appointment of Eric Zhao as Chief Executive Officer of its Beijing Branch.

Zhao will take over from Adrian Goh, who is scheduled to become Chief Risk Officer APAC/MEA effective 1 February 2026. Munich Re thanked Adrian Goh for his leadership of the Beijing Branch and noted that it welcomes his ongoing involvement as a member of the Asia regional Property & Casualty leadership team.
Eric Zhao currently serves as General Manager, Munich Re Life & Health, China. He brings many years of experience in China’s insurance sector, particularly within life insurance. Zhao joined Munich Re in 2006 as Head of Operations, after holding several positions at two major primary insurers in China.
Prior to entering the insurance sector, Zhao worked as a medical doctor. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Medicine from the School of Medicine, Peking University, and a Bachelor’s Degree in Law from the China University of Political Science and Law.

I am confident that Eric Zhao’s deep understanding of China’s insurance markets will help to take our business to the next stage of its development.”
In this role, Zhao will collaborate closely with Serene Chan, Chief Executive, Greater China, Property & Casualty, who continues to oversee Munich Re’s Property and Casualty business across the Greater China region.
