QBE Re, the reinsurance arm of QBE Insurance Group, has announced the appointment of Cindy Foo to the newly created role of Head of Asia, Treaty.
Based in Singapore, Foo will report to Abdallah Balbeisi, Executive Director of Europe and Growth Markets.
She will be responsible for driving QBE’s treaty reinsurance footprint throughout Asia, with Singapore serving as a central hub for this growth.
The appointment excludes Japan, which will continue to be written from QBE Re’s London office
Foo brings over two decades of reinsurance industry experience, having previously held senior underwriting and client management roles at Berkley Re Asia, Asia Capital Re, Swiss Re, and Munich Re.
During her tenure at Berkley Re Asia, she served as Head of Underwriting/Branch Manager, where she has played a pivotal role in building a robust portfolio across the region since 2016.
Balbeisi said: “We are delighted to welcome Cindy to QBE Re. Her breadth of experience, technical underwriting expertise, and strong relationships across Asia will be invaluable as we establish and grow our Asia hub.
“Cindy’s appointment underscores our ambition to build a sustainable, client-focused treaty franchise in the region, while working closely with our wholesale business (facultative) to ensure our renewed focus complements QBE’s strategies in Asia.”
