
Hannover Life Reassurance Company of America (Hannover Re US) has announced key leadership appointments, effective January 1, 2026, including the promotion of Clint Thompson to President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO).

According to the announcement, following his retirement, Schaefer will remain closely involved with the company as Vice Chairman of the Hannover Re US Board of Directors.
Thompson brings to his new CEO role over 25 years of experience in the insurance and reinsurance industry, with a focus on pricing, financial reporting, valuation, asset-liability, and risk management.
The executive has been part of Hannover Re US since 2011, having initially joined the company as Chief Risk Officer.
As part of the recent leadership moves, the company announced the appointment of John Di Meo as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Hannover Re US.
Di Meo brings to his new position over 25 years of industry experience and currently serves as Chief Actuary and Appointed Actuary for the company.
His leadership has encompassed financial reporting, regulatory compliance, actuarial modelling, and strategic planning.
“These appointments mark a new chapter for Hannover Re US, building on a strong foundation established under Pete Schaefer’s leadership. Pete joined the company in 1999 as Chief Actuary and became President and CEO in 2001, guiding Hannover Re US through significant growth and transformation,” a Hannover Re US spokesperson stated.
Adding: “Hannover Re US remains committed to excellence and innovation in the life and health reinsurance sector, with a leadership team poised to drive continued success in the US market.”
