Howden Re, the reinsurance, capital markets, and strategic advisory business of global broker Howden Group, has announced two senior hires to establish its Iberian operations—an important advancement in the company’s international growth strategy.
Both will be based in Madrid and will lead the development of Howden Re’s reinsurance services in the region, while reinforcing Howden Group’s broader presence in the Iberian insurance sector.
The pair join from Nacional Re, where Santos was Commercial Director and Pombo served as Senior Client Manager for Iberia, overseeing client relationships across Spain, Portugal, and Andorra. They will support Howden Re’s activities in the Iberian market.
Howden operates in the Iberian market through its insurance broking and MGA businesses. The launch of Howden Re in the region expands the Group’s range of services and integrates its reinsurance offering.
The move is part of Howden Re’s global growth strategy, which has recently included new operations in the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, and India, reflecting the firm’s focus on providing regional support alongside its international network.
