Gallagher Re, the reinsurance arm of the global broking group, has agreed to acquire the largest independent reinsurance broker in South Africa, Resilea (Pty) Ltd.
Iain Macindoe, previously Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Resilea, will take on the role of Chairman, South Africa, Gallagher Re.
Mathew Macindoe, previously Resilea’s Managing Director, will assume the role of Regional Director and CEO of the South African business.
“This acquisition represents a strategic opportunity to strengthen our market position, diversify our client offering, and broaden our capabilities across South Africa,” said Hamish Dowlen, CEO for EMEA, Gallagher Re.
Johannesburg, South Africa headquartered Resilea offers bespoke reinsurance advisory services across a wide range of product lines, as well as specialised, insight-led consulting services in numerous areas.
Terms of the transaction have not been disclosed.
