Skyward Specialty Insurance Group, a property and casualty (P&C) specialist insurer, has promoted John Burkhart to President, US Property & Casualty, Skyward Specialty Insurance.

In this expanded role, Burkhart oversees the insurer’s Captives & Specialty Programs divisions in addition to his current responsibilities as President of Professional Lines, Industry Solutions, Surety, Accident & Health, and Transactional E&S.
Additionally, the Claims, Technology Solution Services (TSS) and Pricing Actuarial will now report to him.
Burkhart is a market veteran with over three decades of experience in diverse and adaptive roles, with his expertise spanning across regional and international markets.
Earlier, he spent seven years at commercial insurer QBE North America in the roles of Senior Vice President and Head of Professional Lines & Industry Verticals, and Head of Public Management Liability and Financial Institutions.
He started his career at property and casualty insurer Chubb in 1992 in the Department of Financial Institutions, eventually moving into more senior roles.
His roles at Chubb included serving as Global Product Manager of Financial Institutions, European Product Manager for Financial Institutions, UK & Ireland Regional Underwriting Manager for Specialty, and as the Vice President of Specialty Underwriting Center.
