Canopius Group, a global specialty and property & casualty re/insurer, has announced the appointment of John Tiesi as US Head of Financial Lines, effective October 29th 2025.
Tiesi brings 25 years of industry experience in financial and professional liability underwriting, with deep expertise in supporting financial and commercial institutions across the middle market.
Tiesi joins Canopius from Marsh, where he spent nearly 16 years, most recently serving as QSG FINPRO National Practice Leader. Before that, he held positions including Managing Director and Senior Vice President within Marsh’s FINPRO practice.
Earlier in his career, Tiesi spent almost nine years at Zurich North America as a Senior Underwriting Specialist for financial lines.

Tiesi’s appointment comes as Canopius continues to expand in the US market. Recently, the company announced the appointment of Lisa Leftwich as US Regional Head of Strategy and Transformation.
