Specialty insurer and reinsurer IQUW Bermuda has announced the appointment of James Mitchell as Chief Underwriting Officer (CUO) with immediate effect.

He will also play a pivotal role in developing IQUW Bermuda’s underwriting culture of technical excellence, with a mandate to build strategic client and broker relationships.

Mitchell is joining IQUW Bermuda from Guy Carpenter, where he most recently served as Managing Director, Global Specialties and North American Treaty, focussing on client advisory, data led Insights and supporting strategic growth in Bermuda.
Prior to that, he spent 13 years at RenaissanceRe, holding several senior roles in Bermuda and London, where he achieved profitable and strategic growth. He also held underwriting positions at Catlin Underwriting Agencies Ltd.
