Howden, the insurance broker, has appointed Mark Peterson as Head of its Construction, Infrastructure and Surety practice in the United States.

He will be part of Mike Parrish’s US team and will work closely with Naresh Dade, Global Head of Construction, within Howden’s international specialty practice.
His appointment highlights Howden’s focus on attracting senior talent and providing clients with specialist-led, client-first solutions in the world’s largest insurance market.
Peterson brings more than 30 years of experience in law and insurance. Most recently, he led Aon’s Professional Liability team, advising contractors, architects, engineers, and project owners on complex risks and contract structures.
Earlier in his career, he was a partner at Stinson Leonard Street LLP and a shareholder at Koley Jessen P.C., where he built a national litigation practice in intellectual property, construction, engineering, and professional liability.
Howden’s US retail business combines the strength of a global broker with the independence and entrepreneurial culture of a local firm. The company manages $47 billion in gross written premium and generates over $4 billion in revenue, offering services in retail, specialty and reinsurance broking, risk capital advisory, employee benefits, and underwriting and program management.
Mike Parrish, CEO of Howden US, said: “Adding a leader of Mark’s caliber immediately strengthens our ability to deliver excellent results for our clients as they navigate the risks in this dynamic sector. Investing in construction and infrastructure expertise is a top priority, and I am extremely excited to welcome Mark and leverage his 30+ years of experience in the industry as we build a best-in-class team across the US.”
Dade added: “Mark’s appointment is testament to our commitment to investing in the very best talent for our clients. Together, we’ll create a practice that delivers real value to the US construction and infrastructure sector. Mark’s leadership and experience will be instrumental as we set new benchmarks for client service and innovation, and I look forward to working alongside him to deliver our bold and ambitious plans.”
Peterson will assume his role once all contractual obligations have been met.
